CG150 Piston Ring Set
🔧 Piston Rings · Compression Rings · Oil Ring · CG150 Engine Rebuild Part
For CG150 · CG150H · Honda Style 4-Stroke Engines
This is the CG150 Piston Ring Set, a high-quality, cost-effective replacement for CG150 engine rebuilds or performance restoration. This set includes complete compression rings and oil control rings, ensuring excellent sealing performance and oil control.
Piston rings are critical sealing components installed in piston ring grooves, working in close contact with the cylinder wall. This set is available in two specifications: CG150 Standard Version and CG150H Version, to accommodate different production batches or improved engine variants. Please select the appropriate version based on your original piston ring specifications.
✨ Core Functions: Seal combustion chamber to prevent gas leakage · Control oil entry into combustion chamber · Transfer piston heat to cylinder wall · Ensure engine power and fuel efficiency
1st Compression Ring
1.20mm
2nd Compression Ring
1.20mm
Oil Ring
2.50mm
💡 Application Note: This version is suitable for standard CG150 engines with ring thickness configuration: 1st ring 1.20mm, 2nd ring 1.20mm, oil ring 2.50mm.
1st Compression Ring
1.50mm
2nd Compression Ring
1.20mm
Oil Ring
2.50mm
💡 Application Note: This version is suitable for CG150H engines (improved or high-performance variant), with a thicker 1st ring at 1.50mm for enhanced sealing and wear resistance.
⚠️ Important: Specification Selection
CG150 engines come in two piston ring thickness configurations: Standard Version (1.20/1.20/2.50mm) and H Version (1.50/1.20/2.50mm). Before purchasing, verify your original piston ring thickness, especially the 1st compression ring, to ensure correct fitment.
Compatible Engine Models: CG150 · CG150H · Honda-style 150cc 4-stroke engines
Compatible Vehicles:
- CG150 Motorcycles
- CG150H Motorcycles (High-Performance Version)
- Honda CG Series 150cc Models
- Other motorcycles and ATVs equipped with Honda-style 150cc CG series engines
💡 Specification Confirmation: CG150 engines have two piston ring thickness configurations. Please measure your original 1st compression ring thickness (1.20mm or 1.50mm) before selecting the appropriate version.
📌 Compression Rings
Typically 2 rings. Their primary function is to seal the combustion chamber, preventing high-temperature, high-pressure gases from escaping into the crankcase, ensuring engine compression pressure and power output. The top ring withstands the highest temperatures and pressures, while the second ring provides auxiliary sealing and oil scraping.
📌 Oil Control Ring
Typically 1 ring (combination oil ring). Its primary function is to control oil consumption by scraping excess oil from the cylinder wall back to the crankcase while leaving a thin oil film to lubricate the piston ring-cylinder wall interface, preventing oil burning.
- High-Quality Alloy Cast Iron: Manufactured from premium alloy cast iron or ductile iron for excellent wear resistance and fatigue strength.
- Precision Machining: Ring faces, radial thickness, and end gaps are precision-machined for optimal cylinder wall contact.
- Top Ring Surface Treatment: Top compression ring features chrome plating or nitriding for enhanced wear resistance and high-temperature performance.
- Optimized Ring Design: Second compression ring features taper face or torsional design for improved auxiliary sealing and oil scraping.
- 3-Piece Oil Ring: Oil ring uses a 3-piece combination design (two rails with expander) for precise oil control and effective prevention of oil burning.
- OEM Specification: Manufactured to exact CG150 engine factory specifications for a perfect replacement of worn piston rings.
🔧 Installation Guide
1. Remove the cylinder head and cylinder block, then remove the piston and connecting rod assembly.
2. Use a ring removal tool to carefully remove old piston rings from the piston, avoiding damage to the ring grooves.
3. Thoroughly clean the piston ring grooves, removing all carbon deposits and contaminants to ensure clean, smooth grooves.
4. Inspect ring groove wear; replace the piston if grooves are severely worn.
5. Install new piston rings into their respective grooves, paying attention to orientation (marked side typically faces up).
6. Measure ring end gap to ensure it meets specifications (typically 0.15-0.35mm).
7. Stagger ring gaps 120 degrees apart to prevent gas leakage through overlapping gaps.
8. Before installation, apply a small amount of engine oil to the piston rings and cylinder wall for lubrication.
9. Use a ring compressor to install the piston into the cylinder, ensuring correct connecting rod orientation.
Important Note: Proper piston ring orientation is critical — incorrect installation will cause sealing failure. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
Proper break-in after installing new piston rings is essential for optimal ring-to-cylinder wall seating:
- Break-In Period: Recommended 500-800 km (300-500 miles).
- RPM Control: Avoid prolonged high RPM operation during break-in; keep RPM below 70% of maximum.
- Load Control: Avoid hard acceleration, heavy loads, and steep hill climbing during break-in.
- Oil Change: Change oil after the first 200-300 km (120-180 miles), and again after the break-in period is complete.
- Oil Quality: Use high-quality mineral oil during break-in; switch to synthetic oil after break-in.
⚠️ Important Note: Improper installation or break-in may cause ring sticking, cylinder scoring, or other serious engine damage. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
Spec Confirmation: Before purchasing, verify your original piston ring thickness, especially the 1st compression ring (1.20mm or 1.50mm), and select the corresponding version.
Installation Note: Proper piston ring orientation is critical — incorrect installation will cause sealing failure and oil burning. Thoroughly clean ring grooves and stagger ring gaps 120 degrees apart. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
